About Kelli A. Wright, LPCC

Licensed Online Clinical Counselor
in Texas and Kentucky

Kelli A. Wright, LPCC | Licensed Online Clinical Counselor | Texas & Kentucky

I have had my life transformed by the healing power of therapy, and I want others to experience the same. I want to walk with, encourage, and provide tools to those on their journey.  I love supporting others as they take those first fragile steps toward a new beginning in their life.  I do this work because I love seeing someone, as Victor Frankl (author of Man’s Search for Meaning) wrote, “turn a tragedy into a triumph!” I love and believe in people and what Dr. Frankl defined as “the defiant power of the human spirit.”

When not working with clients, I love spending time with my family, reading and watching Sci-Fi, horseback riding, exploring new places, and being around animals and nature. My journey involves being married to an active-duty Army Chaplain, which allows our family to meet amazing people and have incredible adventures worldwide. My online therapy practice enables me to maintain therapeutic relationships with my clients no matter where this crazy military life takes us!

I am able to provide online clinical counseling to anyone residing in the state of Texas or Kentucky. You must be physically located in one of these states to become my client.

Education and Background

I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2002 from Abilene Christian University. 2007, I graduated with my Master of Education in Counseling and Human Development from Hardin-Simmons University. From 2007 to 2009, I completed my internship as a substance use disorder counselor at Serenity House (a residential treatment facility) and Austin State School (a residential program for individuals with intellectual disabilities). I then began a private counseling practice in San Antonio and also had the privilege of serving as a counselor to the underserved population in San Antonio at several community counseling centers. After meeting and marrying my husband, an Army Chaplain, I moved to Waco, Texas, where I opened the Counseling and Recovery Center of Waco, LLC. I served individuals with various challenges for six years but specialized in substance use disorders and addiction. I closed my physical practice in 2017 due to my husband's assignment to Hawaii. In Hawaii, I served the United States Marine Corps as a clinical substance abuse counselor. I now provide services to the United States Army in Kentucky as a Military and Family Life Counselor, I’m the CEO of Grit for the Journey coaching app, in addition to seeing clients online through my telehealth practice, Journey Online Counseling, PLLC.
